Meet Michelle
Welcome to Michelle Brown's Corner on the Web – a place where practical advice meets everyday challenges for parents and caregivers of differently-abled children. Michelle has been a pediatric Occupational Therapist (OT) since 1996, working across homes, daycares, schools, treatment centers, hospitals, and private clinics. Currently, she's balancing her time between school settings and private practice, aiming to enhance everyday living and foster functional independence in children facing unique challenges and different abilities.

Michelle's commitment goes beyond clinical assessment and intervention – Michelle is deeply involved in the lives of the families she works with, providing practical strategies that resonate with the unique needs of each child. Michelle understands the weight that comes with caring for children with diverse abilities, and her approach is personal and relatable. In her therapy sessions, Michelle weaves in humor to create a comfortable and enjoyable environment, recognizing that life can be particularly heavy for these children and their families.

Michelle's main goal is simple: to share straightforward tips, strategies, and resources with parents, caregivers (including foster parents, grandparents, older siblings, and daycare providers), and teachers. She's here to help make managing everyday living a little bit easier.

Whether it's managing mealtimes or getting your child out the door in the morning, dealing with dressing, bathing, grooming, and toileting, or figuring out bedtime routines, to tackling community activities, grocery shopping, sensory differences, and school challenges – Michelle is here to help with everyday challenges and find solutions.

It doesn't matter if your child carries a specific diagnosis or is uniquely challenging in their neurotypicality, neurodivergent or not – Michelle is here to help make your day less stressful and more enjoyable.

Embark on a journey with Michelle, where compassion fuels creativity and empowers others to embrace the fullest, most vibrant lives possible. Together, let's explore the boundless possibilities of living with purpose and creating environments where every individual, regardless of their unique challenges, can thrive and experience the richness of life.

Feel free to share your thoughts and experiences, and let Michelle know if her advice has been helpful. Your feedback is important. This space is meant to be an ongoing resource, so if you need more info or have questions, leave a comment or email Michelle. Michelle is not just an OT – she's here to be a part of your journey, helping you create a smoother, more fulfilling daily life for your child and family.

And, always remember to be the hero you are meant to be.
